this product does what it needs to do: provide a safe place for my pre-crawler to practice her pre-crawling.I'm disappointed, however, that the pattern does not look like the picture. Some adjacent tiles are the same.For example, the 3 and 4 are both green with brown numbers.
My 15 month old son started to explore his surrounding. We installed the locks to prevent him getting into all the kitchen cabinets. The locks did stop him...for a while. But these type of locks are too simple. My son figured it out in 3 months. Not that big a deal for us since he can understand and follow our orders and advices a lot better than he was 3 months ago. Still, if you want the locks to be effective longer than 3 months, you might want to go for something more complicated.
I noticed my 10 month old son was chewing his crib. No big deal until I noticed the large chunk that he had chewed away from one of the sides. The wood was coming off and he could have ended up with slivers in his hands or worse his mouth. This is my third child and the other two were not chewers like he is.I had never even considered shopping for a product like this. Our baby is breaking 4 teeth now and he attempts to chew on everything he can get his mouth on. I live in a large city and I called every baby store. Babies R US told me that they only sold a thin cotton cover or the gummy cover. Neither option sounded worthwhile. So of course online shopping was the only way to go. I ordered the blue set for the sides and ordered the long piece for the front rail separately. I consider them to be pricey but if it saves him from further damaging his crib then it is worth it. I had hoped when i ordered them that they would fit on his "sleigh" convertible crib. His side rails are not straight but rather sloped. The covers fit great. He is not happy a bit that he can not chew the wood but oh well he will get over it. The long part covered the large front raid perfectly as well. They look like reverse bumpers on his crib which is rather odd. Great product, I just wish it had been available in stores.I ordered this with 2 day shipping and ended up getting it the day after I ordered it. I love Amazon. Awesome super fast shipping.
What the previous reviewer didn't realize is that there are 2 different packaging options for this item. The first option is a pack that contains 1 key and 2 locks for people who want to try it out and the second option is to buy the pack that contains 4 locks but no key for those who already bought the starter kit and happened to like the product. So make sure you really read the description of what you're getting if you're buying online. (This one happens do be the 4 locks with no key so you might want to try the starter kit first...I actually rec. it because UNFORTUNATELY the lock doesn't work with all situations because of draw designs) Then on top of that Kidco also sells the key seperately with no locks for those who have the product, love it, and happened to misplace or lose their key OR want to purchase an additional incase they ever lose the 1st key. I will admit that I think it's pretty lame for a company to try to squeeze every penny out of you especially when it probaby only costs 5 cents to make the darn key and especially when you're dealing with child safety products. As far as how well the product works...I LOVE IT and wish it had worked out better with all my draw situations! It's especially great for those cabinet doors that stand alone and don't have another door next to it where you can just buy one of those wrap around door knob locks that require 2 knobs to be side by side. I didn't have as great of luck with my kitchen draws because the draw panel is added on to the actual draw so it isn't flush with where you put the catch. I put 5 stars to bring the rating up because the last reviewer only gave one and it's actually a great product. I know it will outsmart my baby far beyond any cheaper options out there. I installed them with the adhesive tape that comes with it but I plan on reattaching it with the screws also included because I personally feel that the screws will do a better job AND because I love my child more than my freaking cabinet doors for all those worried about messing up your precious wood cabinets...I mean give me a break...the holes are so small anyway and it's totally concealed, only you will know it's there. ALSO, this locks so tight that little fingers/hands can't reach inside small openings (which usually occures with the other types of locks) and pull stuff out. And also there's an option to turn the lock off for in between kids. DEFINITELY CONSIDER THIS PRODUCT!!!!!
Great to not have to screw into cabinets.A good yank can pull off the adhesive, but there would be warning for something like that (takes a lot of force).Having to get the magnet every time to open a cabinet is tough, but better than having to screw in tons of cabinet locks.And worth it for baby safety.
Have a teething baby who is very active. Purchased this because she was biting the rails and we have a lifetime crib, which rail covers don't fit. This is perfect because it's washable too. Only bad thing is that is you have a very curious baby who figures out things fast, then watch them constantly as they will figure out how to reach the other side to get to ties. Double knotting and shorten the ties only stalls her. She's not even one yet!
